Big Sky Benelli

Color: Brown (Liver)
Coat: Medium Dense/Medium Harsh
NAVHDA NA: Prize I, 106 pts
Big Sky Benelli, affectionately known as “Elli,” was whelped in October 2022 here at R&B Big Sky, LLC. At just seven months of age, she earned a Prize I in the NAVHDA Natural Ability Test, demonstrating the instincts, drive, and trainability we strive to produce in our breeding program.
We believe Elli is an outstanding representation of the Pudelpointer breed. She possesses a natural nose, intense bird drive, stylish point, and a love for the water that is truly remarkable to witness. Her hunting ability has already created lasting memories for our family, including helping our son harvest his first wild pheasant.
What makes Elli especially unique is her ability to seamlessly transition from the field to the home. In the uplands and wetlands, she is a driven, focused hunting partner with endless enthusiasm. Once the hunt is over, she settles effortlessly into family life, becoming a calm, affectionate, and loyal companion. Elli embodies the versatility, intelligence, and temperament that make Pudelpointers such exceptional sporting and family dogs.
Our Philosophy
At Big Sky Pudelpointers, we are committed to maintaining the highest breeding standards through thoughtful, intentional breeding decisions and careful placement of our puppies. Our goal is not simply to produce exceptional hunting dogs, but to ensure each puppy is matched with a home where it can thrive as both a versatile sporting companion and valued family member.
From an early age, our puppies are exposed to a wide variety of experiences designed to promote confidence, adaptability, and healthy development. Depending on age and weather conditions, this includes time in fields, exposure to the Missouri River, interactions with children and adults, car rides, household noises, veterinary care, and introductory exposure to gunfire. We believe these early experiences, combined with attentive care in our family environment, provide each puppy with a strong foundation for success in its new home.
As dedicated stewards of the Pudelpointer breed, we strongly encourage owners to participate in NAVHDA testing, with the Natural Ability Test serving as an excellent starting point. These evaluations help provide valuable feedback on breeding decisions, preserve the qualities that make the breed exceptional, and contribute to the long-term success and integrity of responsible breeding programs. We are particularly interested in placing puppies in active hunting homes that share our commitment to developing and showcasing the natural abilities of these remarkable dogs.

Hirsch is a cherished member of the Holloway family in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Bred in Germany and imported to the United States, he has developed into a versatile hunting companion, spending countless days afield with his owner and sons. Hirsch combines tremendous hunting drive, natural ability, and a strong desire to please with a calm disposition and excellent house manners.
With his unique German bloodlines and proven qualities in both the field and home, this pairing allowed us to introduce valuable genetic diversity while continuing to strengthen the hunting instincts, temperament, and versatility that define the Pudelpointer breed.

Lots of snuggles with the family....already sleeping like a PP.

Now the real work begins: eyes are opened and they are learning how to walk and climb. Lots of socialization with the kiddos.
