Remington "Remi"

  • Color: Brown (Liver)

  • Coat: Medium Dense/Medium Harsh

  • NAVHDA NA: Prize I, 108 pts

Downriver Remington Big Sky, or as we lovingly know her, "Remi", was whelped on May 7th, 2020. She scored a prize I in the NAVHDA Natural Ability. We believe she is an excellent representation of the Pudelpointer breed.

She is our first Pudelpointer as we were drawn to the breed through interactions with a family friend/breeder observing their amazing hunting skills and mild temperament making them a truly well-rounded dog.

Remi has absolutely confirmed this. Her natural nose, beautiful point, field desire, and love for the water is nothing short of incredible to experience. Yet, when we leave the field, and enter the house, she immediately is able to turn off this powerful energetic hunting engine and transform into a perfect, calm and affectionate family companion.

Puppies

At Big Sky Pudelpointers we are interested in maintaining excellent breeding standards where we are thoughtful and intentional regarding placing our pups in their future homes.

Our pups are exposed to walking in fields, the Missouri river (weather permitting), children, car rides, various noises in the home, veterinary care, gun shots before placement in their new home. We believe that the exposure they receive along with the care in our loving environment, will get them off to a great start to join their new families.

We expect our pups to be placed in hunting homes that are willing to have the pups tested in the NAVHDA Natural Ability tests at a minimum to help establish good breeding genetics and lead to a successful breeding program.

Mama hunting...

Who says you can't run, point, and river retrieve while all bagged up...honestly, she was only outside for 20 min and immediately dried off afterwards. I think she may be depressed now as she really wants to go again!

Hirsch is a beloved family member of Holloway family located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was bred in Germany and came over the the United States with his family to enjoy all the outdoor hunting activities here hunting alongside his owner and his sons. He has tremendous drive with a willingness to please while being laid back with excellent house manners.

With his genetic diversification, we are aiming to further enhance the Pudelpointer breed with this pairing.

Lots of snuggles with the family....already sleeping like a PP.

Now the real work begins: eyes are opened and they are learning how to walk and climb. Lots of socialization with the kiddos.

Took a little break from watching puppies and took sister, Big Sky Benelli "Elli", for some on the job training. Attempted to get a cool shot with the puppies and the pheasant...

Puppy socialization and "late fall" hunting in Montana.
